My agents work alone 87% of the time. This is the other 13%: one real AI session written out as concert percussion sheet music, then 23 sessions of deep work zoomed out.

A dark plate with the title of a score, "Concerto in AI Twilight, for one person and 50 agents", above the first systems of a single-line percussion staff. The notes run from dim grey to bright white and carry accents, with multi-bar rests between them.

My agents work alone 87% of the time. This is about the other 13%.

In the Maestro Loop Clock, I charted what my agents do when they run on their own: loops nested inside loops, 72 agents on one big task. That’s half the story. Just as important is my part: the moments I come in, and what I bring when I do.

Ethan Mollick calls this way of working a twilight factory. The agents do most of the work, and people come in where it makes the work better. I wanted to see what that looks like in my own deep work with agents, so I built a classifier to grade every moment I guided the work: how much it shaped the result, and what it brought. Values, expertise, taste, or the calls I make.

It starts with one real session, written out as concert percussion sheet music. Then it zooms out to 23 sessions.
